Age: 16 Occupation: Student Resides: Abbotsbury, NSW Car: Spirit 011 Comtec Hobbies: Riding BMX and socialising Career Highlight: Winning the 2008 National Go Karting Title in the Junior National Heavy class Biography: Since the day he was born Morcom has been exposed to Motorsport with his father Barry a competitor via Production Cars, V8 Supercars, and Performance Cars, and at the age of 10 Morcom had his first taste of competitive motorsport. Starting in the Midget class, Morcom then progressed into the Rookie class of Go Karting, but it was in the Junior class, which he joined in 2005, was where he started to turn heads out on the track. Competing in a variety of Junior classes since then, that include Junior National Light and Heavy, Junior Rotax, and Junior Clubman, and Morcom has achieved a lot of success in this time. A front runner over the past three years in the Premier State Cup Series, based in NSW, and picked up multiple round wins over a range of classes, Morcom has also tasted success in State Title events such as Tasmania and South Australia, and most recently victory in the National Title with the Junior National Heavy class. Morcom at the age of 16 in 2008 has stepped up to the Formula Ford ranks competing in the NSW Championship and the plan is to progress into the National Championship the following year. The aim focus for Morcom is to get over to the United Kingdom (UK) and compete in either Formula Ford or Formula 3, and make inroads towards establishing a career out of Motorsport as a driver. |
