Team Direct Plasterboard Outlet Tekno Autosport’s Nathan Morcom remains the Championship Leader but has narrowly missed out on a podium finish at the Australian GT Endurance Championship Round at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.
The Tekno Driver shared the driver’s seat with Grant Denyer for the second round of the series, with the pair qualifying 8th at the beginning of the round.
Morcom piloted the The McLaren 650S GT3 for 65 out of the 101 Lap Race, finishing in 4th place.
“4TH WASN’T THE IDEAL PLACE WE WERE LOOKING FOR AS WE WERE PUSHING FOR ANOTHER PODIUM, BUT IT IS STILL A GOOD SPOT AND GREAT BUNCH OF POINTS FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP TOO.”
Race 1 – Position 4
“THE RACE AS A WHOLE WAS PRETTY GOOD FOR US STARTING IN 8TH PLACE AND BY THE CHECKERED FLAG WE CROSSED THE LINE IN 4TH.”
An issue with driver rankings in one of the Pit Stops cost the McLaren Duo valuable seconds.
“GRANT AND MYSELF WERE PUSHING HARD FOR ANOTHER PODIUM FINISH BUT WE JUST LACKED OUTRIGHT PACE WITH THE CAR TO GET THERE, BUT WE ALSO GOT HELD IN THE PITS LONGER THAN TWO OUT OF THE THREE CARS THAT BEAT US.”
Morcom has confirmed that he will return for Enduro Rounds 3 & 4 with Denyer to continue to defend their Championship Standing Position.
“I’M REALLY STOKED TO BE COMPETING IN THE REMAINDER OF THE ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP WITH GRANT AND WE WILL KEEP PUSHING FOR THOSE PODIUMS!”
Round 3 of the Australian GT Endurance Championship will be held at the recently upgraded Hampton Downs on October 28-30.
“A BIG THANKS TO ALL MY SPONSORS AND THE GUYS AT TEKNO AUTOSPORTS FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY AND A GREAT CAR ALL YEAR.”
Morcom will also drive in the GT Sprint Championship title decider overseas to the Highlands Motorsport Park, New Zealand for the final round on November 11-12.
