Race 1 – Position 17

Finishing P7 in Practice and P16 in Qualifying made for a tough start to the weekend for Morcom, who fell into P21 after trying a new starting method which smoked the tyres.

Morcom began on the back foot but was able to fight his way through the shortened Race into P17.

Race 2 – Position 22

Morcom had a much improved start to the second Race, firing off the start line from P17 into P14 by the first turn.

Included in the battle pack of P15-P9 at the midpoint of the Race, Morcom made some quick inside passes on Turn 2 but suffered at the hands of another driver.

A car that had run wide swung back onto the track and hit another car which then tapped Morcom in the Driver’s door which broke it open.

Holding the door closed while driving and trying to avoid a mechanical black flag, Morcom had to enter the Pits to fix the Door from P11 and fell back into P22.

Race 3 – Position 15

Starting last after a tough Race, Morcom was able to get another great start and work his way through the field one lap at a time to finish P15.

Morcom was pleased with the car that had been improved overnight with setup changes, and was tuned in the right direction.

Race 4 – Position 18

In Morcom’s final race for the weekend he had saved good tyres, differing from the remainder of the field who had used their best tyres earlier on in the Round.

Morcom had another great start and was able to dodge the carnage on the main straight, and make up a handful of positions on Cold Tyres before the Safety Car came out.

Sitting in P9 under Safety Car, on the restart Morcom made the move for P8 into Turn 2, but another driver made a late move which spun Morcom off the Turn.

Morcom was forced to wait for everyone to pass before he could rejoin, but shrugged off the spin and charged back through to 18th place to close out the weekend.

“IT WAS A BIT OF A SHAME FOR THE TEAM & SUPPORTERS THAT WERE OUT AT SMP FOR THE WEEKEND AS WE WERE ON TARGET FOR A GOOD FINISH TO THE WEEKEND BUT SOME THINGS WERE JUST OUT OF OUR CONTROL. LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING BACK OUT THERE AT SANDOWN AND HOPEFULLY HAVING SOME BETTER LUCK!”
