Nathan Morcom has fought against struggles with rear grip at Round 3 of the Super2 Series at the Phillip Island 500.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Nathan climbed 12 places in the first Race.
  • Nathan’s best result of the weekend was P11.

Race 1 – Position 10

Morcom missed out on the Qualifying session after he slid off track on the wet Phillip Island Circuit.

Starting from last place Morcom was able to navigate his way to just outside the Top 10 at the Race conclusion.

Morcom climbed 12 places after starting P23, all in a matter of 16 short laps.

Morcom’s result was upgraded to P10 after a penalty was imposed on a driver infront.

Race 2 – Position 12

Morcom struggled with the car setup in the second Race and had to nurse the car through the Race.

Despite the rear setup issues, Morcom still had a series of tight competition and spent the majority of the Race in a battle pack.

Morcom was able to finish just outside the Top Ten in P12.

Race 3 – Position 15

Morcom’s issues with rear grip continued into the afternoon and took a toll in Saturday’s second race.

Despite having a very tough race car, Morcom was able to salvage P15 and only lose 3 places on his starting position.

Race 4 – Position 16

Morcom was again held back by issues with the car, but managed to have some battles and finish in P16.

After a tough weekend, Morcom is now sitting 11th in the Super2 Series Championship.

Morcom is looking forward to testing with the Eggleston Motorsport Team to resolve the issues faced this weekend prior to Round 4.

“TO BE HONEST WE JUST STRUGGLED WITH REAR GRIP ALL WEEKEND SO I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR 2 AND HALF MONTH BREAK SO WE CAN GO TESTING TO RESOLVE THIS REAR ISSUE. I HAD A COUPLE OF BATTLES BUT WITH THE LACK OF GRIP I COULDN’T GET THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF POWER DOWN.”

Morcom’s next Round of the Super2 Series will be at the Townsville 400 on July 07-09, with all Races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
