Team Direct Plasterboard Outlet Tekno Autosport’s Nathan Morcom is prepared to back up previous success of his Australian GT Endurance Championship Campaign at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.
Morcom will reunite with Grant Denyer for Round 2 in the McLaren 650S GT3 to defend their Championship Standing Position.
Team Tekno have stepped up to back the current Championship Leaders in the eleventh hour and will join Morcom and Denyer in Sydney.
“PRETTY STOKED TO GET BACK IN THE CAR WITH GRANT AND TEKNO, GETTING TEKNO INVOLVED WAS PRETTY LAST MINUTE, WHICH IM GRATEFUL FOR, I’M KEEN TO SHOW THEM WHAT SPEED WE WILL HAVE ON THE WEEKEND.”
Following a successful test day also hosted at Sydney Motorsport Park, Morcom is confident in the changes made to the car.
“WE’VE HAD ONE TEST DAY SINCE THE TOWNSVILLE SUPERSPRINT ROUND, THE TEST DAY WAS A GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO GET OUT AND SHAKEDOWN THE CAR BEFORE THE ENDURANCE ROUND, A BIT OF A SHAME THAT GRANT COULDN’T GET THERE, BUT THE CAR WAS PRETTY QUICK STRAIGHT OUT OF THE GATE SO PRETTY CONFIDENT FOR THE WEEKEND TO SHOW SOME SPEED.”
A test day will prove useful for Morcom throughout the weekend, after he was joined by Jonathon Webb earlier in the week.
“WE MADE A FAIR FEW CHANGES IN THE TEST DAY, I HAD HALF A DAY AND JONATHON WEBB HAD THE OTHER HALF, WE MADE SOME IN-GROUNDS ON THE SETUP THAT MOST OF THE EUROPEANS HAVE BEEN USING AND THAT WENT IN A POSITIVE DIRECTION.”
Following an extensive break after the Phillip Island 101 in May, the Sydney Round will mark the second of four events in the Championship.
Morcom piloted the Camero GT 3 at SMP last year and is confident heading into the weekend on local soil.
“HAVEN’T RACED AT SMP FOR A WHILE ASIDE FROM LAST YEAR, BUT I’M EXCITED TO GET BACK OUT THERE. THE TRACK IS REALLY FAST AND FLOWS THEM WHICH SUITS ME.”
Round 2 of the Australian GT Endurance Championship will be held at Sydney Motorsport Park on August 26-28.
