- Nathan finished P8 in the 250km Race.
Race 1 – Position 8
aking on the Mountain for the first time in a Supercar didn’t slow Morcom down, as he improved throughout the practice sessions to finish P10.
Before Qualifying the Number 54 car had new rotors and brakes put in but Morcom struggled against the new set-up and finished P13.
For the 250km Race, the team took a gamble to start from Pit Lane and take on a fuel for an extra two laps, as a full tank only lasts 21 laps.
The strategy worked well with the Safety Car coming out on Lap 8 and allowing Morcom to fuel up again and receive new tyres.
The second safety car didn’t assist in maximising the strategy to its fullest, but Morcom still made his way through the field against several Supercars Endurance Drivers to finish P8.
Morcom was happy overall with the balance of the car and racing competitively against the likes of Paul Dumbrell and other Enduro Co-Drivers, but reported he still struggled with brakes in the Race.
Unfortunately for Morcom and his strong result against the experienced field, the Bathurst event doesn’t count towards Super2 Championship points.
“THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME AROUND BATHURST IN A SUPERCAR WHICH IS A DREAM COME TRUE. IT HAS ALWAYS HAD A SPOT ON MY BUCKETLIST AND TO CLOSE BATHURST OUT BY FINISHING P8 WAS GREAT.”
Morcom’s next Round of the Super2 Series will be at the Newcastle 500 on November 24-26, with all Races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
